Research programme

About us

The Research & intelligence's (RIU) multidisciplinary Research Programme addresses issues of contemporary policy significance in a comparative context, focusing on challenges of common concern to the Northwest region.

The Research Programme is a source of rigorous and critical analysis and regional expertise in support of all the Observatory's programmes.

The RIU's collaborative research and policy analysis promotes better relations and understanding among regional partners and contributes towards building capacity.  Our work is organised around the three pillars of Sustainable Economic Development: Economic; Environment and Social. We also provide in depth analysis on Skills and Tourism.

Details of research projects undertaken prior to 2007/08 are available in the Legacy Projects section.

The Partner Evidence is a comprehensive programme of research into important topics that was collected to feed into the Evidence Base. The Evidence Base papers can be downloaded via the Future North West section of the website.
